Deer Creek No-Till Crop Rotation Seminar

A one-day seminar focusing on rotational crops for those interested in no-till farming is planned for July 22 at the SWOSU Conference Center in Weatherford. DDCD is hosting the event, which is set for 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. A lunch will also be served at noon.

Moderator for the seminar is Danny Peeper, a certified crop advisor and agronomist for Wheeler Brothers Grain Company in Watonga. Speakers for the event will be Jerry Riney, DR. Bill Raun and Michael Marlow.

Riney is the Commercial Production Manager with Sesaco and will speak on possible rotational crop of sesame for production in Oklahoma and market possibilities locally and worldwide.

Raun is the Regents Professor of Soil Fertility at Oklahoma State University and will talk about the Greenseekers program and benefits and increased efficiency of nitrogen fertilizer in various crops using sensor technology.

Marlow is the Area Sales Manger with Monsanto. He will speak on rotational crop options available such as sunflowers, soybeans, corn and winter canola.

January 17th, 2008 No-Till Hollis Seminar

The Southern Plains No-Till Seminar that was held on January 17, 2008 in Hollis was a success with over 125 people in attendance! The presenters were Alan Mindemann, Dick Zetterburg, Clay Salisbury, and Gary Strickland. Topics for the seminar were No-Till Incentives, No-Till Wheat/Cattle Grazing, Recognizing Soil Improvement that Accompanies No-Till, Herbicide Application Techniques for No-Till and Fertilizer Application Techniques for No-Till.

February 11th & 12th, 2008 No-Till Oklahoma Conference

The No-Till Oklahoma Conference was held on February 11th & 12th, 2008 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Oklahoma City. Over 275 people were in attendance! The goal of this conference was to bring the latest developments in No-Till cropping systems to interested farmers and ranchers from Oklahoma and surrounding states. Topics that were addressed are No-Till Philosophy, Key Considerations for Crop Rotation, Disease, Weed, and Insect Management; Equipment-Essentials for No-Till, Overcoming Obstacles and No-Till Wheat, Cotton, and Grazing Systems.
